Full time position, 40 hrs a week

Start: October 2016

Starting Rate: £8 per hour

Costumes with Character is one of the world’s leading Mascot and Costume Character manufacturers, creating bespoke costumes for a wide variety of clients from all sectors including leisure, entertainment, sports, education, corporate, charities and many more across the globe.

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Trainee Pattern Cutter to join our talented team of makers.

Job Role:

The role of the trainee pattern maker is to cut from standard patterns and create new, unique patterns for Mascots and Character Costumes. The ideal candidate will have upwards of 2 years’ experience using flat drafting and draping techniques to create garments or costumes, a good understanding of fit and proportion and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Working directly with the creative director, the successful candidate will receive advanced training in pattern drafting for bespoke Character Costumes. This is a unique opportunity for a talented, hard-working costume maker to join an experienced and talented team of makers in a fast paced, fun and exciting industry.

Skills required:

  • Min 2 years’ flat pattern drafting and draping experience.
  • Excellent sewing skills with the ability to produce a ‘mock-up’ design for newly patterned work.
  • Experience using Gerber pattern digitising hardware and software.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to instruct and advise on your work.
  • Self-motivated with great attention to detail.

The interview will require a short workshop skills test.
