Costumes with Character is one of the world’s leading Mascot and Costume Character manufacturers, creating bespoke characters for a wide variety of clients from all sectors including leisure, entertainment, sports, education, corporate, charities and many more across the globe.

We are looking for a very special person to come on board and join our amazing team in the role of Costume Props Department Manager. In this role, you will be required to head up a department of 5 very talented individuals and inspire them to create high quality, bespoke work in conjunction with the sewing and patterning departments.  The type of work involved in this role includes creating heads, props and accessories, working to a budget and timeframe and helping other team members with questions or design issues alongside the Creative Director throughout the manufacturing process. This is a full time position with an immediate start so if you feel like you match what we are looking for then do not hesitate. Any successful candidates will be required to complete a workshop skills test so only apply if you really do have the skills to impress.

Skills and knowledge:

  • The ideal candidate will have upward of 4 years of industry experience in prop making, using tools and products such as:

– Plastazote foam

– Vac formed ABS plastics

– Hot glue guns

– Paint

– Vinyls

– Fur, fleece and a wide range of fabrics

– Hand held air powered tools such as drills, riveters, sanders, Dremel and spray guns.

  • Experience in sewing, cutting and pattern making would be largely beneficial.
  • The candidate will have an eye for proportion and scale, the ability to create a 3D shape from a 2D drawing.


  • Good communication skills in liaising with and also training other members of staff.
  • Excellent management skills and the ability to motivate staff.
  • Must be able to safely operate and also train other members of staff on the use of all tools and machinery used in the production of a head or prop (training provided for candidate).
  • Self-motivated and has a great attention to detail.
